With a high-end Intel Core i7-930 processor, 12GB of DDR3 memory, an NVIDIA GTX 470 graphics card, and 1.5TB 7200RPM hard drive, this system is packed with the latest hardware. Although a Blu-ray drive isn't included, the expandability and high performance of the Acer Predator makes it an impressive gaming desktop computer. If $2,000 is too much to spend, be sure to check out the Acer Predator AG5900 with an Intel Core i7 870 processor and 8GB of memory for $1,350.

Review - Acer Aspire Predator AG7750-U3222 Gaming Desktop Computer
The Acer Aspire Predator AG7750-U3222 embodies a rugged gaming feel with sleek glossy black side panels and a front cover that slides up to reveal a rippled orange front complete with a glowing red hue when in operation. There is even a secure handle for easy transport. After admiring the design for a moment, the gaming rig (equipped with a 750-watt power supply) is powered on via a hazard-shaped power button, which is a bit stiff. It is amazing how utterly quiet the Acer Aspire Predator is. It would make a great system for a student in a dorm room or a gamer looking for high performance without the loud fans typically used in gaming desktops.
Once Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit boots up, the machine shines. Equipped with a powerful Intel Core i7-930 processor that runs at 2.8GHz and is liquid cooled, the Acer Predator handles a multitude of tasks with ease. The system also comes with 12GB of 1333MHz DDR3 memory to put other systems to shame. Even with a $2,000 price tag, the Predator offers an abundance of features compared to other popular gaming systems by Alienware and other gaming brands.

Speaking of gaming, the Acer Predator AG7750-U3222 is a dream machine if you enjoy easy swappable hard drives and a decent video card. The base configuration arrives with a 1.5TB hard drive with three additional swappable cages. Each drive bay supports a hard disk up to 2TB for a total of 8TB of storage. For avid gamers, this is a real treat. Although advertised as including a 7200RPM hard drive, our configuration came with a 1.5TB Western Digital Caviar Green drive, which is variable speed hard drive that hindered performance slightly.
The system is also equipped with an NVIDIA GTX 470 graphics card with support for up to three PCI Express 2.0 x16 video cards. It would be nice if Acer included an NVIDIA GTX 480 for the price, but the GTX 470 is adequate. Since the video card supports NVIDIA 3D Vision, this system was tested in 3D mode with an Acer GD235Hz monitor and NVIDIA 3D Vision Kit. After struggling a bit to get the NVIDIA drivers installed, it was finally time to start gaming in 3D. Unfortunately, due to a bug in a patch, World of Warcraft didn't work in 3D mode. But after playing Half Life 2 and The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II, it is apparent the Acer Aspire Predator makes a great 3D desktop. For a list of games supported by NVIDIA 3D vision, click here. It is disappointing that Acer didn't include a Blu-ray drive for an enhanced multimedia experience, though.
But don't worry if you aren't into 3D gaming just yet. The Acer Aspire Predator functions very well in a variety of scenarios. From the daily grind of a work machine to long weekend gaming sessions, this rig is designed to function at full throttle in a quiet manner with normal temps.
The Acer Aspire Predator gaming desktop also comes with a 16x SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW drive and second optical drive bay. Transferring pictures from a digital camera is a breeze with the multi-format memory card reader that is compatible with a variety of formats, such as CF+ Microdrive, CompactFlash I/II, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick PRO Duo, MMCmobile, miniSD, MultiMediaCard, Reduced-Size MultiMediaCard (RS-MMC), Secure Digital, and xD-Picture Card media.
If you're into gaming, odds are you have a slew of peripherals, such as a gaming keyboard, mouse, headset, and/or joystick. However, the Acer Predator comes with a Logitech G110 keyboard and C500 gaming mouse. Thankfully, the Acer gaming rig has an abundance of USB 2.0 ports (five in the front, six in the back), as well as one firewire port and two eSATA ports. Unfortunately, the system doesn't offer support for USB 3.0 or HDMI, which is a big oversight on Acer's part since many gamers have monitors that support HDMI.
Overall, the Acer Aspire Predator AG7750-U3222 is an impressive gaming rig that offers smooth performance even at maxed out settings. With an aggressive design, upgradable features, and 12GB of 1333MHz DDR3 memory, this gaming desktop is an outstanding buy.
